Semiotics is the study of meaning-making, the study of sign processes and meaningful communication. This includes the study of signs and sign processes (semiosis), indication, designation, likeness, analogy, metaphor, symbolism, signification, and communication.
The purpose of this project is to use elements of typography in ways that transcend the utilitarian, literal, and the pre-packaged purposes. To develop typographic settings for a text that give form to metaphoric  meaning or connotation. I hope to engage in meaning making and experiment with the use of visual metaphors in an intentional way.
The source of text is Ellen Degeneres' commencement speech at Tulane University in 2009.
